There is now a dedicated page for organizing the tasks in your backlog.
backlog-2-beta-dark
The new backlog page is our first time deviating from the kanban card style view. We think that a list view is better than a card view when you've got a ton of tasks to scroll through.
You can still view the backlog in the more compact card view in the right panel, but when you want to do some proper backlog grooming, or brain dumping, the dedicated backlog view should feel much roomier.
Prioritizing tasks using time buckets
The new backlog is structured into time buckets:
  • Someday in the next week or two
  • Someday in the next month
  • Someday in the next quarter
  • Someday in the next year
  • Someday
  • Never
This structure gives a flexible but systematic way to differentiate which tasks in your backlog are worth prioritizing sooner rather than later.

Organizing tasks using folders
You can create folders in your backlog if you've got too many to keep in a single list. You can have folders for projects, life areas, or whatever categories you like to group your backlogged tasks in.
Folders are just for the backlog. Once a task gets scheduled to a particular day, the folder designation will be hidden.

Try it for yourself
You can enable the Backlog 2.0 beta from your settings page.
Don't let the beta tag scare you - the new backlog should feel like it has all the fundamentals working. There are still some missing pieces that tie the backlog gracefully into the rest of the app (e.g. the planning rituals) that merit this still be treated as beta.
We'd love your feedback once you give it a try.
