Minimum Time For Task Splitting Should Be Longer

The automatic splitting of tasks is a great feature, but 15 minutes hurts productivity formost tasks - see research on "context switching."
Every time we shift the type of task, we lose time and focus while adjusting our mindset. So the shorter the block, the higher percent of our time is lost in transition. The shorter the window, the greater % of our time gets lost to context switching.
30 minutes is a much more effective minimum split size. If the total task time is 30 minutes, we really should not split that at all.
Of course we should still have the option to create a single 15-minute task that is not split.
Thanks for the excellent product!

This is great when auto-scheduling tasks, so I wonder why the new calendar task projections don't follow the same logic. When looking at my projected times for tasks in the Sunsama calendar, it seems that even brief tasks will be split into very small chunks to fit into short gaps in my schedule, which I often leave intentionally to account for context switching. (For example, I have a 15-minute task today that is split up into three 5-minute projected increments between meetings.) This isn't really practical, and it has the effect of making the Sunsama calendar view messier and also making the projected start times for tasks less useful.

Hi Frankie Sanchez, check out this information on task splitting: https://help.sunsama.com/docs/timeboxing-auto-scheduling#splitting-a-task-around-events---%C2%B7-518
Sunsama will only split the task if it has to, and tries not to if the task is 1 hour or less. If you want to auto-schedule a task without it splitting, hold
Shift
while auto-scheduling!
