Objectives to be more visible
Garrett Groszko
I LOVE objectives and the ability to tie tasks to an objective; however hiding the objectives in the sidebar doesn't always help me remember what I NEED to be focusing on for the week or in general. It might be interesting to show objectives on the top of the UI to constantly be there and in your face. Or maybe there is a way create like a dashboard initially that lets you know what your objectives or key areas of focus should be which you'd then be able to dive in to the see what you are doing each week to reach those objectives.

Came here to request something similar. I love the new sidebar navigation, and how deliberately and distinctly NOT overwhelming the whole app is - but I would def love a way to have my objectives a little more in my face. Feels like there is maybe room to have them in the sidebar in some subtle way. (also a shout out to the 30-60-90 feel that people are mentioning in here.

I agree that Objectives need to be more visible. I would like to see an Objective Dashboard where the objectives can be edited and updated from a larger screen/space.

Weekly Objectives visibility during Daily Planning
Bill Mosca
During the Daily Planning ritual, we're prompted with "What do you want to get done tomorrow?" It would be
immensely
helpful to have Weekly Objectives visible while pondering this question. The primary focus of each day should, after all, be targeted at knocking down those Weekly Objectives. Without visibility, I find myself fighting the urge to just shut the planning ritual down and plan right in the core app where I can see objectives.Alex Cunningham

Weekly goals always visible

It would be good to see weekly goals all the time when looking at the week or during daily planning. Or an ability to have them pop-up when needed

More visible weekly objectives

Make weekly objectives more visible in the standard view. Users tend to forget about them in the day-to-day so placing them more prominently would help.

HI Yash, awesome to see that feedback is taken seriously, even from new users! Having this would help a lot in improving the objectives tracking and progress :)

Another suggestion: I can't figure out how to do top-down planning with objectives. e.g. on Friday I plan the objectives I want to hit for next week, and then I want to create a bunch of tasks to help deliver on that objective. As far as I can tell there's no way to do this except add them to a given day and then associate them with the objective. That doesn't really fit my mental model (adding tasks to a day takes me out of the context of a given objective).

Nathan Wells: Yes! It would definitely be useful to be able to both create new unscheduled tasks that work on the objectives and also associate existing tasks. It would also be really useful to have a way to easily see what tasks are connected to what objectives from the task list, rather than just seeing that they are associated with
some
objective. Perhaps color coded? Or some way to quickly move all of the tasks connected to the same objective? Or better still to be able to set how much time you want to spend on an objective per day and have Sunsama drop as many of the tasks as can be completed in that time onto the day currently being planned!Jayse Hansen
Nathan Wells This really needs to be looked at. It's 2024. Where is this? Sunsama is insanely great, except for this ONE area that is almost un-useable. When planning the week, I want to set an objective, then set unscheduled subtasks to that objective (as a brainstorm). Then I might set time estimates. I want all those tasks to live within the objective. As I plan my day, I will add from this Objective sub-task list. Only then will sub-tasks have a day associated with them. The current way it is done is frustrating AF. I'm sure you had a good reason for doing it the way it is, but it just doesn't follow the natural way anyone works on anything. Please fix! It's such a glaring error that has had me considering other options. But I love Sunsama so much, I hope you guys can solve this issue. <3

A user mentioned that being able to manage them more efficiently across multiple weeks would be handy.

Another user mentioned the ability to filter tasks on a specific objective like with channels would be very helpful.
