Personal Shutdown and/or Planning Flow

Fully agree.
To add to this, as a consultant, I might have a handful of "workdays" of say 2-5 hours each, that occur within a single day, and in addition, the "personal" side of life.
The whole shutdown/planning side of things is great, but it would be nice if we could customize it for multiple sessions within a single 24-hour period.
That would really help consultants like myself properly transition between clients.
Perhaps it could be called something else, like a "Work Transition Session" or a "Mid-Day Check-in"

I just came to look for this because I'm trying to get more responsible and deliberate about filling my personal time wisely, but I don't want the work and personal contexts to overlap. I almost think that separate "workspaces" for personal and work would be wise, but with calendar visibility across them, such that you can switch between work and personal but don't lose the ability to see into what time blocks you have free.

Totally agree! My personal tasks and stuff I do for my hobbies, yearly/monthly goals, etc. are important things and it feels sad to not see them included in the list of things I got done that day to prompt my reflections.
Maybe by breaking out by channel, or at least by context, you could have multiple lists of what you planned to do (daily planning) or did (daily shutdown) in each "category".

I 100% need this too. In the morning planning wizard when asked, "What time would you like to wrap up work by?" I can't schedule that for the end of the workday, because I have a #personal channel with tasks for that night. Then... if I instead schedule it for later that night after my #personal tasks, I don't always do it because I an not on (or usually
try
to not be on! 😆) my computer at night. If you introduce this feature, make the personal shutdown process optional.Alex Cunningham

Set end of workday by contexts in daily planning

I'd like to be able to set two different end of workdays, one for work, and one for personal, e.g. wrap up work at 5pm and wrap up personal stuff at 9 pm. Otherwise, if I review work stuff at 9pm, I stick my head back into thinking about work at night, right before relaxing and going to bed. I'd love to have Sunsama help me forget about work at the end of the day, and transition easily into personal stuff.

Yes, I have two "Jobs" one is my professional career and the second one is running my household and life. I use Sunsama for both and often would like to shutdown my work at 5pm so that I can wrap up and clear my head from it and then continue on with my household/personal life filled with coaching sports, DIY housework, and hobbies. Sunsama helps me time-box my life so at the end of the day I don't have any illusion that "I didn't do enough".. would like to have a shutdown main context, I have work context and personal context now and those have several channels but I don't need to shutdown the channels.. just a shutdown for work and well... Life!!! Love this program and can't even begin to explain how much it helps me have a vector or focus for each day!

Yes, this would be wonderful. Right now, my (work) shutdown rolls all my personal tasks into tomorrow, which makes it fairly painful to plan tomorrow's work day in the afternoon, which is what I really want, because it would make me more prepared for morning work, particularly as teammates in different timezones start earlier than I.
Brandon Arbini
Yes, please. I would change it to an optional shutdown flow for each context though.
Jeremiah Moore
Brandon Arbini: this would indeed be more flexible... an optional shutdown flow for top level context.
I think simply having
- one global time for shutdown
- then a separate shutdown time ONLY for contexts that have a special shutdown time set
- each shutdown flow only affects the items within its context(s)

Jeremiah Moore I like this. The app handles the calendars fairly well already I've noticed. I have my personal and work calendars added and it does a good job of keeping the personal calendar stuff out of the work Slack updates and stuff, and I can easily add to either calendar based on role, but what's missing is that complete context shift from seeing my professional tasks to seeing my personal ones, and the ability to have separate blocks of the day for each.
