When auto-scheduling, Sunsama will split the task when possible. There is some nuance to this feature, which you can read about here: https://help.sunsama.com/docs/timeboxing-auto-scheduling#splitting-a-task-around-events---%C2%B7-518

Alex, should this feature request be marked Closed? It's been implemented, yes?

Michael Carter: Good catch, thanks!

I believe this is possible now when using the auto-scheduling shortcut (x). Ashutosh Priyadarshy

I'm sad this request is from 2 years ago and still not enough interest! I have this problem all the time..

This would be great. I believe allowing tasks to run over several days would also be helpful (or planning work sessions for a single task that is several hours long). However, I believe it would be important to be able to prevent this from happening under certain circumstances. A toggle button "allow split/do not split" would be great.

Maybe when you drag a task + some key, the behaviour is different from the default. Like
drag + CTRL/⌘
.Also, give the ability to change which one is the default.

Yes! If I have allocated 3 hours for a project I will most likely not be able to do all three hours consecutively. It would be nice to split the task and time.

I would also love to see this. Auto-scheduling a long task around a lunch break is another example

This is exactly what I would love to see. I find myself needing to split a large task (e.g. 4-hour writing session) either side of a smaller one (e.g. a 30min meeting).
