Microsoft Planner

I second this, They've started implementing this at work, would love this

any news on this one? Its likely the main tool of many working for large corporate organisations

This thread should be merged with the Microsoft To Do thread, at the end it will have the same result.
Martin Hernandez
Alex please merge this with the Microsoft To Do ticket, the integration will work with both
Alex Cunningham
Martin Hernandez: Hi Martin, thanks. My understanding is that they are slightly different tools, though Planner includes To Do, is that correct?
Michael Carter
Hi Alex and the rest of the Sunsama team... this request has become a much higher priority because, as I am sure you and the team are aware, starting in March 2024 (next month) Microsoft will be starting to release a vastly improved Planner app where they will be merging their three task management apps of (1) To Do (MC acquired and rebadged Wunderlist to To Do), (2) Planner and (3) MS Project. (The MS-Project-like features such as Gantt charts will be paid-for Premium edition features, pof course.)
No doubt Microsoft will once again successfully execute a Fast Follower strategy and take a huge chunk of market share from the currently established task and project management apps providers (think what MS Teams did to Zoom over the COVID lockdown periods). With Office 365 users starting to use Loop (Microsoft's (currently simplistic) rip-off of the Notion app) for wiki and team agenda and notes documentation, the ease of creating and assigning apps within the Office 365 app ecosystem will mean many users will switch to using MS Planner, at least for their work-related tasks.
Alex can you update us please on whether Microsoft's impending move in the task management space means Sunsama will prioritise the integration with (the new) MS Planner? We current use the Business edition of Todoist (and I love Todoist) but the seamlessly embedded /unified nature of MS Planner into Office 365 means we will be switching to it in the coming months.
Thanks in advance for your update!
~MC
P.S. Here are some links about the new MS Planner:

Michael Carter Hey Michael, sorry for the delay. We've been discussing it. This move does likely make MS Planner the next 3rd party task management service we'd build an integration for, but I don't have a timeline for that just yet.

Thanks Alex. Good to hear!

Alex Cunningham, Hi Alex, I'm just circling back around on this thread. Did the team come up with a timline?
Alex Cunningham
Indy Holdsworth Hey Indy, no I'm afraid no update or timeline yet. I'll check in with my team about this.

Any updates on this? Microsoft is about to launch a major reboot for Planner (bringing together tasks, planner and project)... it's going to be a big contender in the task / project space, if it wasn't already
Alex Cunningham
Saul Annett Hey Saul, see my reply to Michael's comment above.

Microsoft Planner integration

At work we mainly use Microsoft's productivity suite, so I have set up Microsoft Planner for my team. Is it possible to integrate it with Sunsama?
In Planner, each task can be assigned a bucket as well as multiple types of labels. I can imagine it being possible to import each task as we currently can with Todoist. So you can see the task name, bucket and tags within Sunsama (although you can only complete/uncomplete it)

I also think it needs to be able to handle multiple Planner projects, as each project can have a small scope. I'm not sure how the accounts in Planner work, but I suspect that it acts like Todoist. One user can create and be assigned to a number of projects, and each project contains a number of tasks that are sorted into these buckets (if you use the Kanban view).

Having this would absolutely justify pricetag for me. I normally use todoist for my personal life and planner for work--having an outlook email integration is AMAZING but if I can't schedule work tasks from planner, this app just adds an extra step for me.

Plus one. How is this not done two years later?
