complete
With Daily Highlights complete, we also consider this "Daily Journal" feature request complete. By publishing daily highlights, you now have a scrollable journal feed of your daily reflections.
If there is a different type of "daily journal" you'd like to see built, please create a new feature request thread, or ask me to do so!

Alex Cunningham my need is for a running open note/journal that I can log to throughout my workday. The daily wrap is not really a solution for that as it is part of the shutdown routine.

Abhay Khurana Thanks Abhay, does this thread for a general notes feature encompass what you're looking for? https://roadmap.sunsama.com/improvements/p/general-notes-features
Abhay Khurana
Alex Cunningham yep seems so.

Today we released the "Daily Wrap" beta. A daily wrap is similar to a daily journal entry.
It's an end-of-day summary that highlights the work you did and gives you a chance to reflect on your day.
Sunsama automates the work of generating and summarizing your list of work for the day, by pulling in your activity from all your connected tools (even if you haven't logged it in Sunsama).
You can add your own personal reflection and notes. You can write your own prompt to re-use each day, or just write free-form.
When you're done, you can publish your daily wrap. Your daily wrap can be shared via email, Slack, Teams, or copied as markdown (so you can paste it into whatever notes app you like).
You can scroll through all of your past daily wraps from the new "Daily Highlights" page. The daily highlights page reads like a daily journal. You'll see each entry from past days, one after the other.
It's possible we might someday add a dedicated 'Journal' page that doesn't require waiting until you're ready to wrap up your day to jot down daily notes, so we'll be leaving this "Daily journal" feature request open. However, we expect that for most folks who voted on this, the combination of the daily wrap + daily highlights page will make you feel like you can now maintain a daily journal in Sunsama in the way you were hoping.
This has been our big project for 2024, so be sure to check it out and let us know what you think!

Travis Meyer Well done! I'm loving it so far.

Travis Meyer This looks really good. Only one comment. at the beginning of the shutdown ritual we are presented with a graph showing how many planned and actual hours were this day and how we used the time. It would be wonderful to have this graph appearing in the daily highlight.

Travis Meyer This is one of my absolute favorite Sunsama features. It's a ritual I look forward to and it motivates me accomplish things I'd be proud to highlight at the end of the day. ❤

Didier Varlot: we've just fixed this so you can still see that pie chart in the daily highlight! Click the little "analytics" button in your daily highlight to do so. cc Andrea Nesta

Travis Meyer, Ashutosh Priyadarshy, Alex Cunningham just went through my first Daily Wrap and this thing is a game changer. So well thought through! Bravo!

This would be so helpful.
Ben Nelson
this is a great idea

Ashutosh Priyadarshy is there a timeline for this request?
An email MVP would solve all the problems for me atm

I LOVE the "reflect" part of the evening planning ritual. I would love some place to story my answers to the question prompts so that I could review them (other than slack of teams)

Changing the status from "planned" to "open" as we are no longer using the "planned" status to better manage expectations.
This remains something we are committed to building, we're just not sure exactly when.
Once we start actively working on this we will update the status to "In progress".

Please let us send the journaling to obsidian. I do my main journaling there. Do not become a journaling app. There is an app already in place for that: Obsidian.

Another VERY simple idea:
Add "Send as Email" to daily flow, similar to current "post to slack"... but using email.
Boom. Main function done.

I keep wanting my "daily planning flow" notes to be collected / exported somewhere. I suppose I could do it manually w/ clipboard... there are so many potential notes or journaling apps to integrate with, probably hundreds of them, it seems difficult to choose which to focus on.... Personally I use Obsidian at the moment.
IMHO Minimum-viable would be:
- Export as data (perhaps raw text, markdown, and something more structured and developer-extensible like json & CSV or such?)
fwiw, as a model, Readwise Reader has an amazing export integration scheme.
